Acts of Grace 24
YOUR GOOD WORKS, HIS GLORY!
By Pastor Henry
Our skills and talents are meant for one thing alone – to do good works. Our God-given skills not only help us to make a living, they help us to help others.
God has created you in His image and He has imparted specific skills upon your life. We are all good for something in the kingdom of God. That is why it is a sin to call somebody good for nothing. Everyone is created with the ability to contribute to others and the community.
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. (Eph 2:10)

God is calling us together as one body. He says that He has a plan and He will give us the power for that plan. We can be sure that God’s plan is to prosper us and not to do us harm. We can also be sure that God’s plan always concerns His people. Why? Because God’s heart is for His people and building His kingdom means building His people, seeing to their welfare and taking care of their needs.
As a church, there are so many things we are doing in response to God’s plan and concern for His people. On a 25-acre land in Gopeng, Perak, we are breeding fish to provide regular income and sustenance to the Orang Asli there. The land also has a fruit farm and vegetables are grown for daily consumption. In Ulu Yam, there is another 14 acres of land with goats producing milk and dung to make fertilizers. We also have a fish pond there where we are breeding fish and shrimps. People from our rehab centres are working there, using their skills and talents to work the land and be productive.
Why are we doing these things? So that the needs of the people dear to God’s heart will be met and they will become self-supporting. So that these underprivileged people could look after their own families and do not have to depend on others. We use our God-given skills to serve others, and to give them every opportunity to overcome their areas of lack.
In Broga and Klang, we have 5 to 6 acres of land where we grow organic plants without chemicals. Going back to the way God planned it. This provides jobs for drug addicts, alcoholics and old men with no home - that’s ministry. This is what we do out there daily,
using our God-given skills and abilities to help others – so that they can help themselves.
Whatever you are doing out there, earning your bread and butter and touching people in the process, is also a ministry. You have a God-given ministry, you are touching lives, serving somebody and blessing your community.
Then the Lord spoke to Moses saying, “See I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, from the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, to design artistic works, to work in gold, in silver, in bronze, in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of workmanship.” (Exodus 31:1-2)

Just as with the building of the tabernacle in the days of Moses, God says He has brought all the workmanship together because He has a purpose, plan and power - and God also gave the personnel for the building of the tabernacle and He named them. Likewise, you can minister, help, counsel, bring healing, deliverance and hope to others. There are a lot of things that you can do out there. You may have been approached by cell leaders, elders and pastors because God has put your name in their hearts and they begin to call you because if you are willing, the spirit of God will give you understanding, wisdom and knowledge in whatever you are called to do.
So if God stirs your heart, get involved: begin to pray, plant and sow.
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matt 5:16)
