THE RESURRECTION OF CHRIST AND THE RENTING OF THE WALLS (PART III)
By Pastor Henry
The resurrection of Jesus Christ brought about the renting of the walls of the temple.
Luke 21: 5-6 KJV
5 And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said, 6 As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

Now what was happening here? Herod had rebuilt the temple and it became one of the seven wonders of the Roman Empire at that time. Believers all over the world desired to come and pray in that place. It was so beautiful with a lot of gold, jewels and diamonds. Oh, they were so proud of their temple. But Jesus said as for these things which you behold, that which you see, the days will come in which there shall not be one stone left upon another.
One generation builds, the second generation renovates, and the third generation pulls it down. The ivory towers that you and I build, our third generation will pull down. In other words, the Lord is saying what you build in your lifetime, before you close your eyes, you will see them all come down. And you wonder what you did wrong in building those ivory towers. Jesus said they shall be torn down.
And the renting of the walls of the temple took place less than forty years after Jesus had said that. He said that in 33 AD. In 70 AD, General Titus besieged the city of Jerusalem and the Jews would not give up fighting. So Titus sent his soldiers inside and burnt the temple and when that temple was on fire, all the gold melted, became liquid and began to flow between the crevices and cracks, between the rocks, between the stones, between the bricks. When all was gone and had cooled down, the Roman soldiers went in to extract the gold. They had to overturn every brick so the words of Jesus Christ were literally fulfilled within one generation. He told them you will see every stone in this temple that you are so proud of โ one of the wonders of this world, where all your money and your pride are โ overturned. And every stone was overturned.
Jesus came to put an end to temple worship. Why? Because God does not dwell in buildings and He says that there should be no more temple worship. You are the temple of the Holy Spirit. He dwells in buildings he makes - your body and mine. The true worshipper worships God in spirit. So wherever you are, if you have got your spirit right, you can worship God because He is omnipresent. He is with you and in you. You are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Hallelujah!
So let us worship God in spirit anywhere, everywhere, all the time. Jesus rose from the dead and he tore the temple walls so that there will be no more temple focus. Our focus must be on Him. Amen.
