Acts of Grace 17
“LEND ME YOUR BOATS!” Pt 2
By Pastor Henry
He said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”(Luke 5:4)
There are times when the Lord will reveal to us His need. By the Lake of Gennesaret, Jesus revealed to Simon Peter His need for Simon’s boat. Simon Peter lent Jesus his boat. Jesus put the boat to good use – He got into the boat and taught the multitudes from the boat (Luke 5:3). Multitudes saw and heard Jesus that day. Multitudes were able to hear the good news - all because Simon Peter lent Jesus his boat!
Beloved, when we answer God’s need for a platform, a stage, a place or even a boat to proclaim the gospel, He will fulfill our need. When we do the will of God, He will supply our needs. Jesus looked at Peter and his fishermen friends and He saw their need. He saw that they had just come back from fishing but they had caught no fish. They brought back their boats but their boat were empty. They brought back their nets and their nets were dirty, broken and torn.
So Jesus said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” (Luke 5:4) When they did exactly as Jesus instructed, “they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.” (Luke 5:6-7)
So much fish, where did they come from? The Lord of the harvest, He gives seed to the harvester for the harvest belongs to Him. He is the Lord of the Harvest and when he tells the fish to hit the net, they hit the net. I believe the time has come – we have wept, cried, given and sweated enough, our boats and nets are broken, we have been disappointed and discouraged many times, but I believe we cannot stop now – we have got to launch out like we never did before, obey Him like never before and trust Him like never before. Many call it “taking risks” but God calls it FAITH. Because we are believing for a catch, a big catch because God says, ‘”In the last days, multitudes will come into the kingdom.”
I believe! To see the invisible, to believe the impossible and call forth things that are not there as though they are there, that’s faith. I am believing God for that. I am believing for you, that your boats shall be full. Even though your nets may be broken, you will still be full. So I pray for you that in your market place, whether you are working at home or in the job you are doing, by God’s grace, I pray and bless you so that you will be fruitful and that you will have abundance.
This will surely happen if you, like Simon Peter, take heed to His voice saying, “Lend me your boat!” Lend me your boats, your nets, your talents, time or treasures - let me use it for my kingdom and I will bless and give it back to you. God is not a debtor. If you, like Simon Peter, will answer His need, He will answer your need. Let us launch into the deep, let us go out into the open sea, where the harvest is plentiful for Jesus has promised that He will bring them into our net. Praise the Lord!
